Infinity Saga Watch Order and Importance Before Doomsday
Last updated 2026-10-31
The Infinity Saga, from Iron Man to Endgame, is the foundation of today's MCU. The stories of Thor, Loki, Steve, Peggy, Sam and Bucky, who all return in Doomsday, begin here. In this guide, every title rated 5 or higher is a must-watch.
The pillars of the story (importance 10)
- The Avengers: Thor, Loki and Steve together. The starting point of the Loki series.
- Infinity War: All-out war with Thanos.
- Endgame: Steve's choice and Sam's inheritance. The 2012 Loki escapes.
Very important (importance 8-9)
- The First Avenger (8): The origin of Steve and Peggy, who both return in Doomsday.
- The Winter Soldier (8): Sam debuts and Bucky returns.
- Age of Ultron (9): The seeds of the team's split.
- Civil War (9): The Avengers break apart.
- Doctor Strange (8): An introduction to magic and other worlds.
- Iron Man (9): Where the MCU began. Downey Jr. plays Doctor Doom, not Tony, in Doomsday, and knowing Tony's story makes that casting even more interesting.
Should watch (importance 5-7)
- Thor: Thor (6), The Dark World (5), Ragnarok (7). The brothers' relationship deepens across all three.
- Iron Man: Iron Man 2 (5), Iron Man 3 (5). Tony's growth, and the question of whether he is a hero without the suit.
- Ant-Man: Ant-Man (5), Ant-Man and the Wasp (6). The Quantum Realm and Ghost's debut.
- Black Panther (6): The origin of Shuri and M'Baku.
- Captain Marvel (5), Guardians of the Galaxy (6), Vol. 2 (5), Homecoming (5): The backgrounds of the heroes who gather to fight Thanos.
If you have time (importance 4 or lower)
The Incredible Hulk (4) and Black Widow (4). You can follow the story without them, but Black Widow introduces Yelena and Alexei, so it is a good pick if you want to enjoy Thunderbolts* even more.
