1. Vers, a Kree warrior

In the Kree empire, Vers trains as a warrior under her commander, Yon-Rogg. She has no memory of her past and is haunted by dreams of a woman she doesn't know.

2. Captured by the Skrulls

On a mission, Vers is captured by the Skrulls, who search her memories. She escapes and crashes onto Earth, in Los Angeles, in 1995.

3. Meeting Fury

S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Nick Fury comes to investigate. When he learns shape-shifting Skrulls are hiding on Earth, he teams up with Vers.

4. Who is she?

Following clues from her memories, they discover she was once Air Force pilot Carol Danvers. She was believed to have died six years earlier in a crash with her boss, Dr. Lawson.

5. Maria and the truth

Carol reunites with her best friend Maria. Talos the Skrull arrives and explains the Skrulls are refugees who lost their home. The crash recording reveals Dr. Lawson was a Kree scientist building the engine to end the war, and that Yon-Rogg shot her.

6. What really happened

When Carol destroyed the engine, she absorbed its energy and gained her powers. The Kree took her, memory gone, and raised her as one of their warriors.

7. Her true power

In a hidden lab in space, Carol breaks the device the Kree used to hold back her powers and unleashes her full strength. Alone, she drives off the Kree fleet sent to attack Earth.

8. A farewell, and the start of the Avengers

Carol leaves to help the Skrulls find a new home and gives Fury a pager. Fury names his new initiative after her old Air Force call sign, "Avenger."

Confusing parts, explainedSpoilers

Contains spoilers about the ending.

Why was she called Vers?

Her dog tag was broken in the crash, and only part of "Carol Danvers" was left on it. The Kree used that as her name.

Aren't the Skrulls the bad guys?

In this film the Skrulls are refugees who have lost their home. The Kree were the ones attacking them, so Carol ends up helping the Skrulls.

Why does the Supreme Intelligence look like Dr. Lawson?

It appears as the person you admire most. Even without her memories, Carol still held Dr. Lawson close.

Why does Fury have both eyes?

This is before he loses one. At the end you find out it was Goose the cat who scratched it.

Why doesn't Carol come back to Earth for years?

She went far into space to help the Skrulls find a new home. She left Fury a pager so he could call her in a real emergency.

Why is Coulson here?

In 1995 Coulson is a new S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. It's a younger version of the Coulson from Iron Man and later films.

Talos and Fury's story continues
