In a space between worlds, a different Strange and a young girl race toward a glowing book, chased by a demon. That Strange tries to take the girl's power but is killed. The girl escapes through a portal.
Strange wakes up. It's the day of Christine's wedding. Asked if he's happy, he isn't sure what to say.
During the reception, a giant one-eyed monster attacks the city. Strange and Wong defeat it, and the girl it was chasing is America Chavez, the girl from his dream.
America can travel between universes, but only when she's terrified, and she can't control it. Someone is sending monsters to steal her power.
Witchcraft runes on the monster lead Strange to Wanda. But she's the one sending the monsters. Corrupted by the Darkhold, she wants America's power to be with her children in another world.
Wanda attacks Kamar-Taj. The sorcerers fight to the death to protect America, and many fall.
Wanda uses dreamwalking to project her mind into her variant in another world. America's fear triggers her power, flinging her and Strange into another universe.
They tumble through world after world, one made of paint, one animated, before landing in a new universe.
Captured by this world's Mordo, Strange is brought before a secret council of heroes, the Illuminati. Their Strange had used the Darkhold, destroyed a world and been put to death.
Wanda takes over her variant in this world and tears through the Illuminati one by one.
With help from this world's Christine, Strange and America head for the Book of Vishanti, which can counter the Darkhold.
Wanda catches up, destroys the Book of Vishanti and takes America.
Strange is cast into a universe destroyed by an incursion, where a Darkhold-corrupted Strange lives. They fight with musical notes.
Strange uses the Darkhold himself, dreamwalking into the corpse of the Strange from his first dream, and goes after Wanda.
Encouraged by Strange, America takes control of her power for the first time and sends Wanda to the world where her children are.
The children there are terrified of Wanda and cling to their real mother. Wanda realizes what she has become.
To destroy every copy of the Darkhold across all worlds, Wanda brings down the mountain temple on herself.
Strange and America return home, and America begins training at Kamar-Taj.
Walking down the street, Strange doubles over in pain, and a third eye opens on his forehead.
A mysterious woman appears before Strange, tells him he caused an incursion, and asks him to come with her.
A pizza vendor, magically forced to punch himself, is finally freed from the spell.
