In Westview, Agatha has forgotten she's a witch and lives as a detective named Agnes, in a world that looks like an old TV cop show.
One day a teenager shows up, and the spell breaks. Agatha realizes Wanda's magic has trapped her for almost three years.
Wanda took Agatha's powers, and they're still gone. The teen asks her to take him to the Witches' Road. Hoping to regain her power at its end, she agrees.
Rio Vidal, Agatha's former lover, also appears. There's a dangerous history between them.
Walking the road takes a coven. Agatha and the teen look up witches she once knew.
Lilia, a diviner; Jennifer, Jen, a potions expert; and Alice, a protection witch, join them. Their neighbor Sharon is brought along to fill the last spot.
When the witches sing the Ballad of the Witches' Road, an entrance opens in the ground and the road appears.
Trial houses wait along the road. The witches must work together and solve each puzzle to go on.
Episode 4 is Alice's trial. Her mother once recorded the ballad. Right after they get through it, Alice is killed.
After the trial in Episode 5, Sharon, who has no magic, also dies on the road.
At the end of Episode 5, the teen reveals who he is: Billy Maximoff, Wanda's son.
The episode flashes back. When Westview vanished, the soul of Wanda's son Billy slipped into the body of a teenager dying in a nearby car crash.
Living as that boy, Billy discovers powerful magic within him as he grows.
His twin brother, Tommy, should be out there somewhere. Billy wanted the road to find him.
Lilia experiences time out of order, past and future mixed together. Her strange remarks begin to make sense.
Lilia's trial is a tarot puzzle. Accepting her fate, she saves the others and dies.
Jen learns Agatha once bound her powers. In the final trial, Jen gets them back.
Agatha admits the Witches' Road was a story she spread herself. It became real because of Billy's power.
Rio Vidal is Death itself, and she comes for Billy.
Agatha gives up her own life in Billy's place and dies in Rio's arms.
Agatha's past is revealed: she had a son, Nicky, and tried to protect him. Together they created the song of the Witches' Road.
Later, Agatha appears to Billy as a ghost.
Billy and Agatha's ghost set off together to find Tommy.
