A year later, Matt has given up being Daredevil and works only as a lawyer. He and Karen have drifted apart.
Wilson Fisk, Kingpin, back from hiding, is elected mayor of New York.
Matt defends Hector Ayala, the vigilante White Tiger, who's accused of attacking a police officer.
Matt and Fisk meet at a city event and have a tense conversation.

Fisk's wife, Vanessa, ran his criminal empire while he was away.
After the trial, Hector is murdered.
A mysterious serial killer called Muse terrorizes the city.
Matt decides to become Daredevil again.
Daredevil hunts down Muse.
Fisk creates a special police unit to hunt vigilantes and tightens his grip on the city.
